The Research Group of Regional Development and Risk Management (RER) at the Department of Spatial Planning focuses on research and teaching related to spatial risks and climate impacts, as well as approaches and strategies for sustainable and resilient regional development.
The Research Group of Regional Development and Risk Management (RER) emerged from the former IRPUD and combines innovative, practice-oriented research with teaching. The focus of both research and teaching is on spatial risk and climate impact research. One key area is the protection of critical infrastructures, which are essential for the functioning of supply systems. Additionally, the research group addresses sustainable spatial planning and development to ensure public services of general interest in the sense of balanced spatial development. Through the close integration of these topics and the coordination of large interdisciplinary projects, RER actively contributes to the sustainable and resilient development of cities and regions.
