The project Evolving Regions, funded by the EU and the state of North Rhine-Westphalia (NRW), aims to support climate adaptation in rural areas for and with partners from 7 regions in NRW and one region in the Netherlands. The IRPUD is responsible for conducting climate impact analyses serving as an information and decision-making basis during the roadmap process.

Despite the corona pandemic, the project remains active and in close collaboration with the project partners. Currently, the project is realising an online format of the democycle for the two regions Steinfurt. For this purpose, the developed triad of climate impact analyses (see figure) was filled with initial content like compact factsheets for NRW and first result of the climate impact analyses.

The initial result of the climate impact analyses for the climate signals heat, drought, heavy rainfall and river flooding were presented and discussed among all project partners during the democycle. In addition to the start of the democycle an online jour fix for all participating partners took place, mainly focussing on the methodology and procedure of the climate impact analyses.

Additionally, online expert workshops were held on 22nd and 24th of June 2020 in order to discuss a transferable approach for climate impact analyses with the corresponding data and indicators for NRW. To further promote the project in public, first activities are now taking place on Twitter:
