IRPUD FOKO - Climate Impacts on Human Security
- Research colloquium (FOKO)
Over the past decades, empirical research has shown that climate impacts can increase the risk of violent conflicts by exacerbating its drivers, including human mobility. This lecture provides an overview of the current state of research that analyzes climatic effects on conflicts, accounting for the potential roles of human migration and displacement as drivers, outcomes, or mediating factors. Quantitative approaches from econometrics to assess climate impacts will also be introduced.
